481 - Danzo's Death
Sasuke has
cruelly pierced Karin through the chest in order to finish off Danzo.
He smirks and tells her that she’s only a burden to him if she can
taken hostage so easily. Danzo tosses Karin and aside and
attempts to limp away only to be confronted by Madara who wants to
retrieve Shisui‘s eye for himself.
Memories flash before Danzo’s eyes and he recalls
a crucial moment during a mission under the Second Hokage during
Konoha’s war with Kumogakure. The team composed of Danzo
Shimura, Kagami Uchiha, Torifu Akimichi, Konaru Utatane, Homura
Mitokado and Hiruzen Sarutobi, all under then command of the
Second
Hokage,
Tobirama Senju. However, things were not going well
and they twenty of Kumogakura’s master bounty hunters were closing
in. Their only hope of survival was for one of them to act as
a decoy while the others escape, but whoever acted as the decoy would
almost certainly not survive. A silence fell over the
group. Danzo believed it was his duty as a ninja to die in
battle and wanted to raise his hand, but fear held him back.
In the end, it was Sarutobi who broke the silence
and volunteered to be the decoy. Danzo became angry at his
weakness because he felt relief that somebody else
volunteered. He snapped at Sarutobi and declared that he will
be the one to make the ultimate sacrifice for the team.
However, Tobirama stopped them both by declaring that he will be the
one. As the Hokage, it was his duty to protect those who
would carry on the flame of Konoha. Before departing, he asks
Sarutobi to protect the village and train the next generation as the
next Hokage.
Danzo always saw Sarutobi and has been chasing his shadow
his entire life. But even though they had different ideologies,
both had the same goal -- to protect Konoha. With death drawing
near, Danzo unleashes his final technique: the Reverse Four Symobols
Seal. A large explosion of blood erupts from his body as the
jutsu attempts to suck in those nearby into his corpse to die with
him. However, Madara and Sasuke manage to escape. Sasuke declares
that their next destination will be Konoha.
Meanwhile, Sakura’s team is closing in on Sasuke
and Madara. Sakura stops everyone as soon as Kiba manages to
pinpoint Sasuke’s location. She attempts to put everyone to sleep with
a special smoke bomb, but Sai stops her. Sai tells Lee and
Kiba that Sakura intended to fight Sasuke alone, but then announces
that he promised Kakashi that he wouldn’t let anyone go any further
than this. However, Sakura isn’t going to obey
quietly and warns Sai to get out of the way or else.
